The Photo the Poncho Said "No" To

The Photo the Poncho Said "No" To

You know how sometimes, things just try to kill you? Here’s one of those things in one of those stories that I sure get a kick out of. Let’s get into it.

In 2016, while on that epic Ireland Road Trip with my mom and my sister, we did a quick day trip to London. You can read about that day in more detail here, but I want to tell you a specific story from that day. While we were on top of the double-decker bus, enjoying a hop on hop off tour of the city, it started raining. No big deal, we were given ponchos when we got on. Being that there was no one on top of the bus, we decided to be the only idiots willing to stick it out in the rain.

We sat right behind the glass and laughed at our own dumb choices pretty hard while trying to listen through the little headphones what the recording was saying.

As the ride progressed, there were more and more photos that we wanted to take, but they all kept turning out the same way. On top of that, the wind started picking up. Not just from the bus driving, but from the storm that we were in. We started to rethink our position, but we’re stubborn. We stayed.

I stood up and walked towards the back of the bus to try to get a picture not through the rain covered glass of the front of the bus. The turns that the bus took made it tricky to not fall over and the wind decided to inspire my poncho to dance a bit. My jeans got wet from bracing against the empty seats, but that wasn’t enough. The wind must have thought the scene comical because it picked up more and moved my poncho from a jovial dance to feelings of murder!

Sorry for the video quality on that one, but the files were bounced around a few times before I got a hold of them. I didn’t realize I was being recorded at the time, but I was determined to snap that picture!

Pretty good, right?

Pretty good, right?

Considering the movement and the wind, it’s not an altogether bad picture, right?

I hope you enjoyed this quick story from London on a family trip and be sure to check out the other blogs that go with this trip. Until next time.

Thanks, y’all!
